Brazil and Spain deepen partnership in innovation

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, signed, on Wednesday (26), in Madrid, the Letter of Intent between MCTI, Finep, the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain and the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) that relaunches the strategic partnership between Brazil and Spain. The minister is part of the entourage of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The document signed by the minister seeks the coordination of bilateral projects of technological development and innovation between Brazilian and Spanish companies. Among the priority areas and areas of common interest are health, environment and climate change, energy transition, higher quality and value-added food and new resources for Industry 4.0, energy transition, mobility and transport and information and communications technologies.
During a statement to the press, President Lula recalled the important partnership with the Iberian country and said that Brazil will once again invest in research. "Spain is the second country that invests the most in Brazil, more than a thousand Spanish companies are based in Brazil and 15 million descendants of Spaniards are in Brazil," he said. "My coming here is to say that Brazil has returned and we will recover what we had already built. We will return to investing in education, research and taking care of the climate responsibly," he added.
The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, reiterated the intention to strengthen and strengthen the partnership with Brazil. "We are full of hope for the creation of jobs and wealth for our countries. In science and innovation, we have signed a letter of intent to bring activities of innovative characteristics in the field of ecology, higher education and work that will express the maturity and diversity of our relations," he said.
In addition to the signing ceremony, Minister Luciana Santos accompanied President Lula in a meeting with the president of the government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez.
