The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, met on Wednesday (19) with the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom, Thérèse Coffey, in London.
During the meeting, the proposals to open new markets for Brazilian products, especially animal proteins, were discussed. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), Brazil has already announced the opening of 14 new markets since the beginning of the year.
"We are living a great moment for agribusiness and working to take advantage of the opportunities that the mood of the world in relation to the government of President Lula is offering us. The result of this is reflected, not only in our trade balance, but in the generation of jobs in the municipalities throughout the agro cycle," said Minister Carlos Fávaro.
Given that the UK imports almost 50% of the food and beverages it consumes, Brazil has clear potential to increase its share as an exporter of agricultural products to the British market. Last year, Brazilian agribusiness exports to the United Kingdom grew by 37.9% in value.
