Netherlands reduces tomato sales in the European Union

Imports of Dutch tomatoes into the European Union (EU) were reduced by 24.67%, while Morocco and Spain had significant increases. Spain, for example, had a 17.84% increase in its exports and Moroccan tomatoes increased by 3.56% compared to Spanish tomatoes.
The data were released by the statistical service Euestacom, according to the publication, imports from the European Union fell 2.55% of the total from 2,670.34 million kilos of tomatoes in 2020/2021 to 2,602.13 in the 2021/2022 crop.
It is important to emphasize that the Netherlands is the world's largest supplier of tomatoes to the European Union, the last harvest generated more than 1,214.6 million euros for the country. Spain, in turn, is the second largest supplier of tomatoes to the EU, with a volume of 55.08 million kilos of tomatoes
The 3rd largest supplier of tomatoes to the European Union by volume was Morocco, with an average price of 1.44 euros per kilo. The 4th position is occupied by France, in the export iteof and finally comes Turkey among the five countries that sell the most tomatoes in the European Union.
