Senator Luis Carlos Heinze - PP / RS - who is a full member of the CMA, highlighted the progress of the project that began to process in the committee in 2018 and only four years later was appreciated. "Approval of this PLS represents a victory for the productive sector that is penalized disproportionately. We are talking about an activity that brings economic and environmental social benefits", heinze emphasized.
According to the justification of the project, the sector is responsible for 4.5 million jobs and Rio Grande do Sul is ranked in the ranking of the states that operate the most in the segment. "The polluter label for the forester is a mistake that needs to be corrected. The activity, in practice, benefits the environment and helps to reduce the effects of global warming", reinforces Heinze.
The approved opinion accepted two amendments that maintain restrictions for the exploitation of exotic fauna and living aquatic resources.
Before being sent to the House of Representatives, the report still needs to be analyzed by the plenary of the Federal Senate. Senator Heinze says he will continue with the joints for inclusion on the agenda.
